In Wale’s fifth studio album “Shine”, the former DTLR employee holds up to the poetic lyricist we have grown to love. With the birth of his first child, “Shine” is intended to show you the positive vibes Wale is experiencing and appreciating in his life now. Whether it’s the upbeat hit single “Fashion Week”, which I personally guarantee will be the fashion show theme song for years to come, or “My PYT” which highlights older men’s love for the younger women (Male Cougars I guess as Ty Davis may say) the tempo of this album is very enjoyable.  Wale even takes us on a trip to his African roots with the record “My Love” featuring Major Lazer, WizKid & Dua Lipa.  This is a record I know BETTER get a lot of spins because if it were DRAKE the radio would play it nonstop.  Of course, on every album Wale gives the fans that one undeniable record and this album he holds true to that formula with my favorite record “Fish N Grits” with Travis Scott.  Although Wale had to change his final verse on this song a bit he still delivers us a hit record. Finally, “Shine” wouldn’t be complete without a song for the ladies and this time around he called on some of his DMV neighbors Chris Brown & Phil Ade for what I predict will be this summer’s ladies anthem “Heaven On Earth”. All in all, Wale never disappoints us and “SHINE” is some of Wale’s best work. Consistency is key.  Check out his interview and Style Suite with King Flexxa on DTLR’s YouTube and SoundCloud pages!
